T96M-C6NKP Three Phase Electronic Meter with DLC Modem

Three-phase electronic meter with integrated DLC (distribution-line-carrier) modem, per-phase remote disconnect, programmable overcurrent threshold, and optical IEC port.

Overview

T96M-C6NKP extends the T96 C6NKP electronic meter with an integrated DLC modem that talks directly over the low-voltage feeder. From a substation head-end the operator reads four tariff registers, per-phase voltage and current, and the 12 Mb load profile, plus issues per-phase relay disconnect, per-phase overcurrent threshold, and tariff-schedule writes, all without a field visit. The DLC PHY, coupling transformer, isolation, and modem firmware were designed in-house. The same SMT line that produces the T96 family builds this board with extra paste deposit on the high-current shunts and the relay coils.

Key features

  • Integrated DLC power-line carrier for remote read and control
  • Per-phase relay disconnect / reconnect (R, S, T, or all)
  • Programmable per-phase overcurrent disconnect threshold
  • Reads phase voltages, currents, cos φ, and tariff registers
  • Optical port retained as in-field fallback

Standards

  • IEC 62053-21

How it is used

Distribution utilities running fleet remote-control over the LV feeder. Operator at the head-end reads consumption per tariff, retrieves 15 months of history, programs tariff calendars, disconnects or reconnects any single phase or all three, and sets per-phase overcurrent thresholds, all without sending a crew. Optical port remains as in-field fallback if the DLC link is down.

How we build it

Built on the same line as the T96 family. Extra paste deposit on relay coil pads, current shunts, and the DLC coupling transformer. LS60 places three phase-isolated relays with snubbers, the modem front-end, the 32.768 kHz crystal, and lithium backup cell holder. GF 120HC reflows at 245 °C. AOI on every joint, plus dedicated visual check on the coupling transformer placement and isolation gap. Calibration to NVRAM per unit.

Assembled on our in-house Novastar SMT line: SPR-45, LS60, GF-120HT.

Optical inspection and test

AOI inspects placement, RTC crystal alignment, LCD ZIF seating, IR LED orientation, relay coil polarity, and the DLC coupling transformer footprint. Functional test at a partner test house: 10 A balanced injection at varying cos φ, pulses verified against the 400 imp/kWh constant within Class 2 tolerance, optical port exercised at 300-9600 bit/s with and without DLC active, each phase relay energised and read back through both interfaces.
